Sunset Arts and Advertising RFP
Overview —
Sunset Boulevard is home to one of the most iconic sprawls of billboards in the world - the Times Square of the West, if you will. Their reputation precedes them, and for good reason. From the Marlboro Man to The Rolling Stones, every brand, service, or product worth knowing has been imprinted on these billboards. As the custodian of these displays, the City of West Hollywood is responsible for preserving their legacy while ensuring the Strip remains contemporary. In 2019, the City underwent a comprehensive RFP process to address the addition of new billboards, requiring all potential projects to participate in a rigorous design excellence competition. Working with Interstate’s architectural partners, I helped conceptualize, and produce responses for, several designs, one of which met the City's meticulous criteria and was awarded the rights to build.
