Philadelphia’s 6abc Thanksgiving Day Parade is the longest-running Turkey Day parade in the country. Take that, Macy's! Fighting words aside, my team and I had the opportunity to work with 6abc, a longtime Interstate client and the parade’s primary sponsor and official telecaster, to supersize their OOH promotion of the parade with a unique activation. Knowing we had exceptional event access, we wanted to get as close to the action as possible - maybe even IN the action? And that’s exactly what happened when we got the green light to incorporate a double decker bus into the opening dance sequence of the parade. We wrapped that big, beautiful bus with branded copy, and off it went to join its dancing counterparts. Thanks to our friends at 6abc, the bus was featured on Good Morning America (!) before rolling onto center stage for a spectacular parade kick-off. Augmenting the experience (pun intended, keep reading), the wrap included a Virtual View graphic, which live spectators and TV viewers could scan to enjoy an animated 6abc mascot. The activation was a huge success and was replicated for several years to follow.
